Saskatchewan Women Entrepreneurs Conference 2012

Imagine Wedding and Event Planning has been a member of the Saskatchewan Women Entrepreneurs for the past two years, and we have really enjoyed the benefits of this membership! Recently I attended the AGM and annual Women's Conference! We were entertained and inspired by two fabulous women who were our keynote speakers! One of these women was Meg Soper! Meg is a humourist and motivational speaker! On thurs night she kept us giggling with tales of stress, and how to de-stress! Check her out at www.megsoper.com On Fri we heard Erica Diamond speak, and she gave us 10 helpful tips for starting and growing our business! Erica Diamond is another great speaker, and she blogs! I love bloggers! On her blog she gives out great tips for women in business, relationships, and being a mom! Check out her blog at www.womenonthefence.com.
Imagine Wedding and Event Planning also created custom centerpieces for the Conference this year. The centerpieces contained rocks in the W.E. colors and featured ranunculus flowers submersed in water!
At the conference there was also lots of time for networking! Here are some of the awesome ladies we met! Karissa Ehalt - who is another woman looking to get into the wedding planning industry!
Corinne Johnson - is an EcoAdvisor! Corinne has "Green friendly" products for everything (or almost everything), and she owns the coolest coat ever! Check her out on the web www.onlygreen.com/glisten
Also check out www.tu-bees.com! Gaye Sheppard makes gourmet honey, and who doesn't love honey? What makes this honey so awesome, is that you can squeeze it out of a tube! And we think it makes a great wedding favor! ~ Imagine!

Red and White Roses

Always a great choice for the the traditional bride are red and white roses. This bouquet was a custom order and made for a bride who is having a very small, intimate, family wedding. All she required was a small bouquet for herself, complete with a matching boutonniere for the groom. Her favorite flowers are red and white roses, and we added in just a hint of mint green ribbon for the stems!

DIY: Boutonniere's and Corsages

The very first thing you'll need to do is get together your supplies to make your own boutonniere's and corsages. First I would go and choose the type of flower your want to make a corsage out of. Keep in mind you don't want it to be too "big". Simple will be much more stunning.

Materials:
flowers
accent flowers
wire cutters
floral tape
any other accents desired

Step 1:
Take all your flowers and cut them down to the required length. My flowers are pre-cut, however if you have a full stem I would suggest a length of approx 3-4 inches to work with.

Step 2:
Arrange flowers in desired position with accent flowers, and wrap tightly with floral tape. Floral tape will stick to itself, so the more you stretch the tape - the better it will stick.

Step 3:
Arrange in any extra accents on corsage and wrap tightly in floral tape. In this boutonniere we used pearl sprays, however you can use different colors, jewels on wire etc.

Step 4:
Tightly wrap the entire base of the corsage. If you want at this point you can wrap the base in a thin ribbon of your choice. I would recommend hot glue-gunning the base and wrapping the ribbon upward around the boutonniere, and then gluing it again at the top to secure it. However you also can just leave it with the floral tape on it.

Voila! You just made your own boutonniere/corsage!

March Wedding - Black with a splash!

Imagine Wedding and Event Planning just finished up with the first wedding of the year. I had a great time doing it and the color theme is what we like to call "Black with a Splash!" (Of color that is!)
This couple had their evening wedding and reception at the Regina Inn, in downtown Regina, SK. With around 100 guests they had a fun and informal evening. The color scheme was mainly black with hints of blue, green, pink and orange for fun!
We outfitted the room with black linens, chaircovers and black satin sashes provided by CTWD, and we also hung numerous colorful tissue balls from the ceiling of the ballroom.
The centerpieces were a simple 4 Gerber daisies in a small vase that matched the brightly colored ceiling! Check out the photo's below!
