Imagine Wedding and Event Planning had a great time at Regina's "A Wedding Expo". Held for the first time this year at the Conexus Arts Centre, things went of without a hitch. I had the chance to meet a lot of great couple's this year who are planning and looking for all kinds of great things for the summer and fall of 2012! I also met a few brides who were already well on their way to planning their summer of 2013 weddings! As a wedding planner, I love the early starts!

At the Imagine booth this year, I went with a blue and damask theme! Imagine featured a few great centerpiece idea's, as well as a candy buffet display, a fun tree seating chart AND new button bouquets with alternative boutonniere's!
I was thrilled to be next to Jessie of Jessica Lena Photography who was offering brides a fabulous FREE engagement photography package as a prize for a draw! Just wanted to say hi and hello to everyone in 2012! This year as well as offering wedding planning, floral design, and other associated services, we plan to bring in some really cool rentals!

This fall we set up our online Etsy store, so we have some things that are pre-made and ready to purchase for your wedding. A lot of these items consist of alternative bouquets and boutonniere's (which we will custom make for you), and we also have floral orders pre-made and ready to purchase for your whole bridal party. Bridesmaid: To be or not to be...

Let’s be honest! There is tons amount of info on how not-to be a bride-zilla, but there is a lack of info about being a bridesmaid. If you are a bridesmaid I’m sure you have a ton of questions. But you need a co-operative bride, and a bride who can lay it all out for you, so you don’t have questions. Of course that’s what all bridesmaids hope for!

Fun Facts
In early Roman times, bridesmaids accompanied the bride throughout the day. They served as a shield and were to protect the bride from anyone who tried to hurt her. The more Western bridesmaid came from a later Roman law which needed ten witnesses to attend marriage ceremonies. It was believed if the bridesmaids/groomsmen dressed in identical clothing to the bride and groom that harmful evil spirits wouldn't know who was getting married.

What does a bridesmaid do?
Provide Support
Planning a wedding is a stressful time. A bridesmaid needs to providing emotional support during the planning of the wedding, and also the day of.

Bridal Shower
At some time its usually the bridesmaids responsibility to plan a bridal shower for the bride. Although the style of the “bridal shower” has changed over time, the idea still remains the same! “Gifts”

Bachlorette Party
At one time the bachlorette party was puzzles and games. Now we have strippers and bar-hopping! Some ladies prefer a evening of martini’s with close friends. Either way the bachlorette party is a way for the bride to give one last hoorah for single life.

Assorted Jobs
These are an arrangement of responsibilities that can involve anything from wedding dress shopping to hand making 200 wedding guest favors. Be prepared for anything and everything!

The Bridesmaid Dress
Bridesmaids foot the bill for their own dresses, shoes and other wedding apparel! Sometimes a bride will offer to pay for a part of the ensemble as a gift for standing up with them on their wedding day! The dress can be a touchy subject for some attendants so its always nice to try to choose the outfit as a group, with the bride’s approval of course. After all everyone wants to be comfortable on such a big day!

Financial Responsibility
Financial responsibility of being a bridesmaid does not end with attire. You can also be expected to pay for hair styling, makeup, pedicures and manicures. Also be aware that you might have to pay for transportation or accommodation at your own expense if you are coming from out of town, or planning on staying in a hotel the night of the wedding.

Dancing
Bridesmaids should serve as party-starters at the reception! They get everyone on their feet and having fun when the DJ starts playing music.

Sugar Cookie Wedding Favors

Personally I love sugar cookies! I love them at any time of the year! But seeing as Christmas is right around the corner, I researched a fabulous sugar cookie recipe for you to try out for Christmas or for your wedding favors!

Check out Ducky's Tasty Creations in Glenavon, Sk for all your sugar cookie needs. Not only do they make great cookies but also custom cookie bouquets and cupcakes!

Sugar Cookies
1/2 cup butter (salted)
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
Instructions:
Cream butter and margarine well. Add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla. Mix well. Combine flour, baking powder and baking soda. Gradually add to creamed mixture. Form dough in a ball and place on parchment paper. Place another piece of parchment paper over the dough. Using a rolling pin to roll the dough approximately 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut out your shapes. Place onto cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 16 or 17 mins. \

Sugar Cookie Icing
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
2 – 4 teaspoons milk
2 teaspoons light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
food coloring
Stir together confectioners’ sugar and milk in a small bowl until smooth. Beat in corn syrup and almond extract until the icing is smooth and glossy. Add more corn syrup if the icing is too thick. Divide into separate bowls and add food coloring to each bowl.
Place icing into sandwich sized zip lock freezer bags. Snip one of the corner’s of the bag and add decorating tip.
Use a knife to coat the cookies with icing. After the cookies have been coated, use the piping bag to pipe design. Add sprinkles etc. if desired. Let dry.

On Oct 29th Imagine Wedding and Event Planning took part in the First Annual Estevan Bridal Show and Ladies Night! We were there with a lot of other great vendors from Regina and the Estevan/Weyburn area.

We were joined by Creative Touch Wedding Designs from Regina, and Jessica Bridal who sponsored the fashion show. Also featured in the fashion show was Estevan's Jenny Joans ladies wear, and Frank's on Fourth Men's Wear. This fashion show also featured a few of the Estevan Bruins as the models!

The theme of the evening was PINK! And all the proceeds went to Breast Cancer research!

Custom Made Table Numbers

A few months ago, I wrote a few posts on some custom-made table numbers, and aisle markers that Imagine had made for Project Priceless. The whole idea for Project Priceless was for Jordan and Brian to get married for free, with donations, trades, and up-cycling. Their wedding took place in Ottawa Ontario on Aug 22 2011. Thanks to Laura Elizabeth Photography I can share with you a few of Imagines custom made decor pieces for their quirky day!

Blue Button Bouquets and more....

Recently I have had the chance to make a great blue and white bouquet for a client. This bouquet features over 130 stems of buttons! Also I crafted a matching button boutonniere for the groom.

Also this past month weve designed and created a Gardening set of boutonnieres and a set of Roughrider boutonnieres for our Saskatchewan football ball fans!

October at the Willow on Wascana

One the first week of October I actually got to attend my first wedding this year, as a guest only! But being the wedding planner, I always have to share the beautiful things that couple's choose for their wedding day!
This couple had a late morning wedding at the Regina Floral Conservatory. It was small, intimate, and a perfect little ceremony for family and close friends to enjoy.

The reception and dance took place at the Willow on Wascana! This beautiful venue was complete with twinkling lights and a large tent in case of rain (which we never had, thank goodness!).
They had a beautiful color scheme consisting of navy blue and cream, and they had the venue beautifully decorated by Creative Touch Wedding Designs. The head table was draped with satin linens and twinkle lights, while the guest tables had white tablecloths and navy blue with white organza runners.

For centerpieces this couple had white roses arranged in square vases that were draped in lace. Around the centerpieces there were also numerous tea light candles also done with lace.

We enjoyed a fabulous five course meal provided by the Willow, that was accompanied with wine tasting to match each course. After dinner we enjoyed a relaxing candle lit evening, and danced the night away with Danceland DJ's!

Damask and Pink at the Sandman Hotel

On Sept 24th 2011, Imagine got to be a special part of a great couple's big day. For this wedding, the couple went with a classic black and white damask theme, with hints of pink.

They had a beautiful small ceremony at the Sandman Hotel followed by photographs and the reception! Some of the great small touches this couple had was an intimate candy buffet, as well as cookie wedding favors! Check out the photo's below for wedding inspiration!

Victoria Club Wedding

On the last weekend on August Imagine Wedding and Event Planning got to partake in a wedding for a fabulous couple!

First we started off at the Ramada Hotel, where the couple has booked a beautiful suite, for their bridal party to get ready in. This suite had a great winding staircase up to a whole second level!

We headed out from the Ramada Inn to go take pictures around Wascana Park. First over by the Willow on Wascana, by the walkway that overlooks the Legislative Building. Secondly in front, and inside of the Legislative building. And lastly, around the floral gardens by the Legislative Building.

After the pictures, we headed over to the Victoria Club for the ceremony, reception and dance to follow!
The couple chose to have lime green and eggplant purple as their colors for the wedding. The decor consisted of beautiful orchid centerpieces, simple white linens, and a fabulous array of balloons!

I had a great time at this wedding, and would like to thank the couple for having me partake in their special day!

Aspen Links Country Club

Imagine Wedding and Event Planning has been working with this great couple from Weyburn, SK, for their 2011 Regina, SK wedding for the better part of a year now. And we have had tons of fun!
This couple started their day with a beautiful ceremony at the Wascana Bandstand in Wascana Park. We rented the simple white folding chairs from A1 rentals, and Imagine set up and decorated for the ceremony.

Following the ceremony the couple went for pictures around Wascana Park with the fabulous Dave from Last Mountain Photography.

The reception was fabulous featuring brown, black and white linens, and chaircovers by Wedding Bell Rentals from Weyburn. This color scheme looked great with Aspen Links wood lodge feeling dining room space.

The bride chose to have beautiful Lillie centrepieces, and chocolate covered candy-apples for guest favors.

The guests enjoyed the cake made by Sugar! Wedding Cakes, and they danced the night away to Jason Hubbs from King's Court Music Services!

Silver and Cornflower Blue Wedding

In the first weekend of August Imagine was hired for a beautiful silver and cornflower blue wedding. This wedding had beautiful a beautiful decorating scheme, and Imagine was very proud to be a part of it.

First we decorated for the ceremony which took place in the theatre lobby of the Conexus Arts Centre. The couple got married on a small stage that we draped with cornflower blue linen. The backdrop consisted of four pillars that we draped with organza, and it was beautiful backdrop. The couple had rented chairs from Creative Touch Wedding Designs, and we donned them with beautiful blue sashes.
Finishing off the ceremony we laid down an aisle runner, and draped some fabric and flowers for the aisle way.

As soon as the ceremony was over, we did a quick turn around, and changed it into a beautiful reception hall. We decorated the head table complete with silver linens and blue damask overlays, and finished it off with lovely homemade floral centerpieces. The guests tables had the same decor but instead of a damask overlay, had a cornflower blue satin overlay.

The couple also had a wonderful candy buffet filled with tasty chocolate delights, and they had a beautiful water fountain cake stand.

Bridezilla's be gone.....

Planning a wedding is sometimes difficult. There are tons of vendors that need to be booked. You have a budget to plan, friends and family to deal with. And of course you want it to be just perfect! Enter bridezilla! I can relate because I once was a bride-to-be myself! Wedding planning should be a great experience for both you and your fiance, but sometimes we lose sight of the big picture. Keep in mind that your wedding doesn’t have to be perfect, and when it comes down to it, the most important thing is you, the couple. After all, this is a celebration of love, and that’s why your guests are coming. They aren’t coming for your expensive silk damask tablecloths, they are coming for you.

No one likes to be around a bridezilla! Especially not your fiance, or your bridesmaids. They might smile, and bear through it, but inside they are really picturing horrible things happening to you. Be nice to your family and friends, even if things do go wrong. After all, if you trusted your friend to do something for your wedding and they screwed it up, it isn’t the end of the world. Do you really want to lose a friend over it?

Most importantly, if it is too much, and you feel it just can’t be left in the hands of your fiance, or family, or girlfriends, call a wedding planner! After all that’s why were here!

Jade and White Wedding

This weekend was exceptional busy as Imagine Wedding and Event Planning had two fabulous weddings to take care of! Being the long weekend, it is a very popular time weddings. The first wedding I'd like to feature is a wedding here in the city.

This couple chose to have their wedding reception at the Italian Club, and their feature colors were jade and white.
Imagine took care of their decorating needs, including their guest reception tables, the head table, cake table and guestbook table.

Fushia and Chocolate Brown Wedding!

Over the past 16 months I have had the pleasure of working with a great couple to plan for their summer 2011 wedding. July 23 2011 was a fabulous day, and even though we hit a few bumps in the road, it turned out better than one could have imagined!

This couple had originally planned to have a simple, yet elegant wedding at the Regina Floral conservatory. But two weeks before the wedding, a storm passed though Regina that damaged the roof of the conservatory with it's strong winds and large hail. Unfortunately the Regina Floral Conservatory was not fixed in time for this couple's wedding.
At the last minute we scrambled to find them another great venue that would suit their needs. Applause Dinner Theatre served that purpose well!

At 6:00pm the bride walked down the aisle to "Your the Inspiration" in a room decorated in fuchsia, chocolate brown, and hints of black. It was a beautiful ceremony performed by wedding commissioner Patricia Netzel!
After the ceremony the bridal party went for pictures, while guests enjoyed drinks and snacks. Following pictures the guests were able to enjoy the evening's program full of laughs, games, and some dancing.

This couple chose to have fuchsia table runners (A Touch of Elegance), and chair sashes on black and white linens. The room was also filled with beautifully designed balloons supplied by A1 Rentals.

Instead of a cake, this couple also chose the ever so popular cupcakes! These cupcakes were pink to go along with the color scheme, and covered with chocolate icing.

All in all, it was a great wedding and we had a great time helping you plan and assist in your big day!

Custom Bouquets and Boutonniere's

Canada Day Wedding!

On July 1st, Imagine Wedding and Event Planning were able to take part in a fabulous wedding! Canada Day was the theme with the bridal party donning colors in red and white, and although there were a few dark clouds in the sky, we didn’t have to run or hide from the rain. Instead we had great weather, not too hot, and not too cold.
We started the day out at the fabulous First Baptist Church, across from Victoria Park. This church is a must see for those who have not been inside. It features a crisp white interior with balcony seating, and a beautiful stain-glass dome in the center.

After the ceremony, we headed over to Victoria Park for some photo-opts, where the kids playing hackey-sack kindly retreated so we could take some great photos in front of the statue. Once we finished up in Victoria Park, everyone headed over to the reception hall.

The reception took place at Glencairn Community Centre, where we were joined by DJ Rhino’s Lighting and Sound as well as Scooter’s Photo Booth.

Regina Floral Conservatory Wedding

Well June 25 was an especially busy weekend for Imagine as we also had another fabulous couple get married at the Floral Conservatory. For this great couple we provided photography services, for thier ceremony as well as some formal shots afterwards.
The Regina Floral Conservatory is a small venue, but is a beautiful wedding backdrop for those who are looking for something intimate and romantic. It has brick wallways that take you through a little greenhouse, has a great arch, and features a wooden gazebo perfect for your wedding photography or small wedding ceremony.
The floral conservatory can be booked all year, but is usually a sought after place for winter weddings.

Italian Club Spring Wedding

A few weeks ago, Imagine had the pleasure of working with Jessie of Jessie Smith Photography. Needing some new headshots and business photographs, I naturally asked Jessie to take the photos. Due to Jessie’s great technical skill, and fabulous creative side, the choice was obvious in deciding who would be a great photographer for these photos!

We started out the afternoon in Jessie’s studio for the typical business headshot, and then moved on towards a more fun afternoon. Jessie took me out to the industrial area of Regina, where she knew there were some great backdrops. After that we headed over to A.E. Wilson Park, unknown to me, was a perfect backdrop for a few shots on the more relaxed, and natural side!
In less than two weeks I have the photo’s back and they are fabulous! They are exactly what I was looking for and more! Thanks Jessie, you did a fabulous job.

Spring Lumsden Wedding

This past weekend Imagine took part in a beautiful wedding held in the picturesque town of Lumsden, Saskatchewan.
The ceremony was held the simple, yet beautiful Lumsden Town Park. This creative couple chose to have the park decorated with their wedding colors lime green and aqua. The couple got married beneath a archway decorated in tulleing, the tree's around them outfitted with white, aqua, and lime green lanterns, and their guests seated on beautiful white chair covers complete with satin lime green and aqua sashes.

After the ceremony, they went for pictures, while we finished up the reception decor for them. Only two blocks away from the park, the couple held a grand reception at the Lumsden Centennial Hall. The hall has beautiful high arched wood ceilings, and a wooden dance floor.

The color theme carried over to the reception where the tables were decorated with opposite coordinating colors of lime green and aqua. Creative Touch Wedding Designs also came in and beautifully decorated their head table, and cake table as well.

Thanks for having Imagine be a special part of your day. It was absolutely beautiful!

Looking for fabulous stationary, introducing Nellia Designs!

So you might be wondering who "we" is. My name is Janelle, owner of Nellia Designs. Everyone calls me Nell as you probably have already found out.
I never meant to get into making invitations. I never even considered it. But of course that changed when I, myself got married and designed my own invitations. The response from guests was amazing and things took off. I slowly started getting requests, and after a few months I opened an Etsy shop. I've been happily designing stationery ever since.
I've been lucky enough to be able to move to part-time at my job, and stay home to work on invitations. I also have the most amazing casual help when larger orders come in. They keep me sane.
I have a degree in Graphic Arts and Internet Specialist courses. I work with Photoshop, CorelDRAW, and Illustrator.

The Process...
So you're interested in our custom stationery? There are two options to suit your timeline and budget.

Studio Collection
Are you pressed for time or on a budget? Our unique Studio collection is for you! Choose from a wide range of gorgeous designs and customize them to your style. You can change colors, papers, and fonts to suit your own individual style. To browse our Studio Collection, please visit our Etsy shop at www.nellybean.etsy.com.
Once you've decided upon a design, send me a convo through Etsy, or feel free to contact me here. I will setup an Etsy listing, or Paypal invoice for your order. Once all of your wording and insert information is received as well, a digital proof is prepared and we work through any additional changes. You can choose to pay in full (required for rush orders), or pay 50% upfront and the remainder once proof is approved.
Once everything is finalized and approved, and a final full payment is received, we will starting printing and assembling (or not assembling if you choose to order your items unassembled at a discounted rate), which can take up to 2 weeks depending on season.
All orders are shipped via Canada Post Expedited. If you'd prefer UPS or Purolator, arrangements can be made.
Please allow 4-6 weeks for us to design, print, and ship your Studio Collection invites.
Rush orders are subject to a rush fee to be discussed on a per order basis.

Custom Invitations
We meet or talk over phone/email so we can get a sense of your event details and your design style. There is a long list of questions we can fill out together or you can fill out on your own time.
I will go over paper options, colors, embellishments and more. Meetings are booked at a local coffee shop and are relaxed and fun. You'll get to browse through swatch books, see samples, and more.
If you're wanting to see a sample of your invitation before placing a full order, there is a design and sample fee which will be discussed on a per order basis. Once ready to place the full order, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required.
Once there is a set design and insert info, I will send a final sample in the mail for your approval.
Upon final approval and payment, your invitations are assembled and ready for stuffing! (or printed and ready for assembly if you are a DIY assembly bride!)
We can either meet if you are local to Regina or I will ship your final order via Canada Post Expedited.
Please allow at least 9 weeks before you would like the invitations sent out to go through our custom process.

We fill up quickly, so earlier is better! I only take a set amount of custom orders per season.
Pricing is very dependent on the materials and time that go into making your invitations. Each order is unique, and so is the pricing. After the initial consult, I'll put together a price list for you and send it via email. Most basic designs run anywhere from $3-$6. Couture designs are extravagant and luxe, ranging from $10 - $20 each.
There are so many options, and together I'm sure we can design your perfect invitations within your budget.

General Questions
What is your turnaround time for invitations?
Typical turnaround time (including design, layout, printing, assembling, etc.) for Studio Collection invites is approximately 4-6 weeks from the date you approve your proof and have sent final payment. If the work is 100% custom designed from the scratch, it may take longer, depending on the complexity and the availability of paper and materials. If you are going to mail invitations to your guests, we generally recommend that your mail out date is approximately 12-14 weeks prior to the day of your event. If your guests are located overseas, please give an extra 2 weeks for them to receive your invite and send the RSVP card back to you.

Do you have a retail store?
Not at this time. However if you are local to Regina, I'd be happy to book a free 45 min consult with you to discuss your needs and show you a few sample designs.

Can invitations be custom designed?
Yes. If you cannot find what you are looking for, I'm happy to help design something unique just for you. If the design is starting from scratch, please be aware there is a $100 non refundable design fee. This covers my times spent designing and the cost of materials to make you a sample invitation. This is credited towards your order if you proceed with ordering 100 invites or more.

Can you custom design place cards and seating cards?
Yes! Most times, you want all stationery to coordinate. Just let us know what style, paper, colors etc, and we'll work to come up with a whole range of custom stationery.

Can you print addresses on envelopes?
We can print your guests' names and addresses on the outer envelopes and print your name and address on the RSVP envelopes. Please be aware there are extra charges for this.

Can you print in a foreign language?
Yes we can. We do not have access to all font types, so there is a chance we won't have certain languages on file. As long as you can submit to us exactly how you'd like it laid out, we'll work to design something for you.

How much do you charge for rush orders?
I try my best to stay on top of orders and keep the timeline to 4-6 weeks. If you need them any sooner than 6 weeks, the rush fee is 25% of your total order. There is a minimum of $75 and maximum of $150 on Studio Collection invites. Custom orders will be quoted at time of ordering.

About Samples
Can I order a sample?
Yes. Studio Collection invite samples can be purchased at www.nellybean.etsy.com. Custom samples are $100 design and sample fee. This is credited towards your order if you proceed with ordering 100 invites or more.

Can I customize the sample?
Studio Collection samples are not customized and only available in colors that we have on hand. If you'd like them customized, the fee is $30 each.

About Ordering
Do you require a deposit?
Yes. Once you have placed an order, we require 50% of the total amount to initiate your order. The remaining balance is due once you approve the proof.

What payment methods can I use?
We accept personal cheques, money orders, Interac e-mail money transfers and credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discovery) through the PayPal website. PayPal is an easy, convenient and secure online payment method. If you opt to pay via credit card, we will send you an e-mail with a link that will take you to PayPal’s secure invoice page, where you will see a summary of all the items that you have chosen to purchase.

What is your return policy?
Custom designed items are non-refundable. Studio Collection can be refunded at our discretion. I have yet to have anything in need of being refunded.

Shipping
How long will it take for me to receive my orders?
Shipping time and cost will vary depending on the weight and destination. We usually use couriers, such as Canada Post, UPS and FedEx with insurance added. We can offer different shipping options, depending on your budget and how quickly you’d like to receive the item.

Can you ship to international locations?
Yes. Please be aware customers are responsible for any customs or brokerage fees.

May 21 2011 Wedding "with a hint of football"

For the past year Imagine Wedding and Event Planning has been working with a fabulous couple Nathon and Dawn! Being huge Rider fans, this couple decided to incorporate a little bit of "green" and little bit of "Rider" into their spring wedding.

Nathon and Dawn had a gorgeous evening wedding at the Applause theatre in Regina, Saskatchewan. Their color palette consisted of hunter green, black, and hints of white. The couple put together simple, but charming decor that consisted of black and white table linens, with hunter green satin skirting and accents, as well as mirrored glass vase centerpieces, containing green gel filler with flameless candles.

For the special couple's ceremony they choose to get married on the stage of the theatre. They had a lovely wedding preformed by Wedding Commissioner Orville Nichols, and also included a sand ceremony, in their favorite colors! You guessed it green and white!

Dawn created fabulous wedding favors for her guests! Using the traditional candy filled organza bags, Dawn also had black custom buckets made to hold the favors. To go along with a few football touches, Dawn also handcrafted football favor tags.

An alternative to having a cake, Dawn and Nathon opted for green cupcakes! They had a mix of vanilla and chocolate to please everyones taste buds! These cupcakes were also displayed on a beautiful cupcake stand, hand-crafted by Dawn's father.

Another great football inspired surprise was the outfit worn by their longtime friend and Master of Ceremonies. Their MC's surprise theme outfit was a hit with the couple and guests who attended the evening's festivities.

Click Photobooth Rentals is a Saskatchewan owned company with one focus—adding an extra element of fun to your event. A Click Photo booth is a spacious, mobile booth that takes high quality digital pictures that are printed on the spot. The booth is easy for guests to use and uses sophisticated technology to keep it user friendly. All of the equipment is of the highest quality. The photos are taken at a very high resolution and printed on premium photo paper. Guests choose whether they want their photos colour or black & white . This creates a unique memento guests will never throw away.

How does a Click photobooth work?
Walk in, push the button and have fun! Three to Four consecutive pictures will be taken, with time in between each picture to switch poses. Exit the booth to retrieve the pictures.

What are the set-up requirements for a Click photobooth?
An electrical outlet within 30 feet of the booth location and at least an 8′x 8′ area.

What is the size of a Click photobooth?
The booth fits 1-10 people.

How does a Click photobooth provide favours to guests?
Your prints can be personalized photo graphics or layouts. Let us know if you have a monogram/logo you’d like us to use, or we can work with you to customize a look to suit your event.

Is there a limit to how many photos can be taken at an event?
Absolutely not! Please take as many as you’d like.

What is the standard number of hours for renting a Click photobooth?
Our packages offer 2 to 4 hour rentals, however we can provide our services for any length of time you’d like. We can get roughly 40 people through in an hour.

Does a Click photobooth print photos on the spot like the ones in the mall?
Yes, however we use digital technology and a high resolution camera that results in high quality pictures.

How far will you travel?
We currently serve Regina and Area (up to 25km outside the city). 25+ km outside the city incurs a travel fee of .50 cents per kilometre.

Do guests pay to enter?
No, the booth is NOT coin operated. The event is paid for using a flat rate system.

What is needed to reserve a Click photobooth?
A signed contract and a deposit of 50% . Balance is due 14 days prior to event. Cheque and/or cash accepted.

What if I need to cancel?
You may cancel any time, however, the deposit is non-refundable.

Where is the best location for a Click photobooth at my event?
The best location is in the hall or room your event is taking place in. If the hall can’t accommodate the photo booth, the next best spot is the lobby.

DIY Feather Aisle Cones: Part 2 of 2

The next step for making your own feather aisle cones, is to take a small Styrofoam ball (usually purchased at craft stores), and set it into your cones. Depending on the size of your cone, you may need a larger or smaller ball. Dab some glue around the side the ball, inside the cone to secure in place.

After the ball is dry, then you start sticking in your feathers or flowers into the ball. The feathers or flowers can be placed however you want to get the desired look. Be sure to press in the feathers firmly. If you are worried about them coming loose, you can always dip the end with glue before sticking it into the Styrofoam ball.

After this, you aisle cone is finished! You can add any extras to personalize the cone such as extra ribbon, stickers or jewels!

DIY Feather Aisle Cones: Part 1 of 2

If your looking for step-by-step instructions on how to make your very own aisle cones, then this is the blog post for you! These are custom made aisle decor for Project priceless. Because their theme is "leather and feathers" these cones are donning peacock and ostrich feathers, however you can choose to fill the cones with whatever type of flower or feather that fits your wedding theme best.

First decide on how many aisle markers you want, then you will need to purchase the proper paper to make the cones. Regular computer paper is not strong enough to make the cones, so I would recommend getting bristle board in co-ordinating colors.

Cut into a square for desired size then, roll the bristle board in a cone shape, being sure to having a corner point in the back. As you wrap it around, secure with a glue-gun. White craft glue will not dry fast enough.

After cones are dry, you can decorate with sequins, stickers, or anything that will match your theme. Imagine choose to incorporate the faux leather finish, by applying a small piece of fabric to the bottom of each cone.

This fabric is applied the same way, by matching up the point in the back, and sealing with a glue-gun as we wrap the fabric around the base of the cone.

After your done decorating, take a single hole-punch and punch four holes around the top of the cone. Be sure to punch them evenly, two at the front, and two at the back. Then string desired ribbon though the holes and fasten. This will become the piece that hangs your cone.

Project Priceless DIY Table numbers

A few months ago I had the pleasure of reading a news article about a couple in Ottawa who were planning there wedding for FREE. They put out a call to everyone who was willing to donate something for their wedding, and since then have had over 122 offers! They have been offered everything from photography to decor and more.

As a wedding planner, I immediately wanted to offer my wedding planning skills, but due to our distance, I realized this was not possible. So after careful consideration, and a glance through there "needed" list, I was able to make an offer of table numbers, complete with stands. Also I offered to make some aisle markers for this couple as well. ( More on those later!)

Jordan and Brian's colors are apple green, crisp orange and a royal purple. So based on their colors and theme, the following 25 table numbers were made. Something simple, but that would fit in with their already eccentric wedding.

Paper Floral Bouquets!!!

Crepe-paper flowers are a nice way to have unique details with your wedding. Making the flowers can be very enjoyable, and like silk flowers, they offer several advantages. They will not wilt or hang over extended periods of time, and you can make any type of flower in any color as well! They can be made to match the style and color of a wedding, and they are suitable for any season! If you a DIY bride, then give these paper flowers a try!

When building crepe paper flowers it can be very easy to construct each flower petal by petal. This way you can shape each pedal before attaching to the stem. Cut out the number of pedals you will need, in the shape and color that you desire. After shaping each pedal attach the flowers to a stamen using a floral adhesive such as tape. After making 16-24 flowers depending on the size of your desired bouquet arrange all flowers and attach with floral tape. Complete the look with matching ribbon.

DIY Colorful Wedding Cupcakes!!!!!

If you love the idea of opting for cupcakes for your wedding instead of having the traditional wedding cake, why not try out this recipe for DIY cupcakes! Use food coloring to create the exact theme and colors for your special event! Make sure you try a preliminary batch, before your big day!

Recipe:
1/3 cup of Vegetable Oil
2 Eggs
1 cup of plain Yogurt
1 White Cake Mix
1/2 cup Milk

Combine all ingredients until and stir into large bowl. Beat batter for about 2 minutes on a medium high speed, or by hand until creamy.
Add food coloring for desired color. Or if you want to have multi-colored cupcakes, you can divide the batter into different bowls, and add a different color to each batter!
Then take the batter and put into white muffin cups evenly. If you are using multiple colors, put a spoonful of one color into muffin cup, then alternate with another color. When they bake, this will give the cupcake a layered effect. You will most likely need to spread out the colored batter into the muffin cup to get your desired look.
When baking the cupcakes, use the directions according to the cake mix you bought! To complete the cupcake, be sure to purchase icing and sprinkles in coordinating colors!

International Wedding Traditions!

French Weddings
A great tradition for a French wedding, is instead of serving a wedding cake, the couple will choose another desert. A popular choice is croquem bouche. The dessert is a creme-filled pastry puff, covered in caramel sauce.
French traditions can continue very late at night. Sometimes those invited to the wedding will go to the couples window and bang pots and pans together. This tradition is practiced throughout France as a way to celebrate weddings and other special occasions.

Italian Weddings
In an Italian Wedding, the color green is very important! Green is supposed to bring good luck to the married couple. Usually all Italian brides will wear a veil. The veil tradition was thought to hide the bride from spirits, and the brides attendants were supposed to wear similar dresses to confuse all the spirits.

Muslim Weddings
Christian weddings are very much like Western weddings, however Muslim weddings in Arab countries of course contain Muslim traditions. A wedding is not considered valid unless each of the couple are ready. Unlike Western weddings, the groom is to go visit her before the wedding. In Muslin tradition, both sexes are divided. They each have separate seating area’s for both men and women.

Scottish Weddings
There are many traditions that surround Scottish weddings. Most notable is the bagpipes, which usually accompany the bridal party as they arrive, and as they leave the ceremony. At many of the Scottish weddings, there will be traditional Scottish dancing consisting of couples and groups dancing to live music. It is also very popular for the men in the bridal party to wear kilts, however it is not a requirement.

Filipino Weddings
It is considered bad luck for close family members, such as siblings, to have their wedding in the same year. Money (paper bills) is sometimes attached to the brides dress, as the couple has their first dance together.

Chinese Weddings
Depending where the bride is from, a Chinese wedding will have different traditions. Most commonly are a Tea Ceremony and a wedding emcee. More modernly, the couple will have "glamour shots" taken by a professional photographer.

Earlier this month I did a post on the Posh and Pink Fashion Forum, beacuse I think this is a fabulous event that's happening right here in the Queen City. So this Valentine's Day, and you want to pop the big question? Why wouldn't you? Valentine's Day has been reported as the most romantic holiday of the year. Preparing for proposing can be complicated. Here are some tips to help you design the perfect proposal!

If your bride is very traditional, be sure to ask the brides father for his permission to take his daughter's hand in marriage! And to save yourself the embarrassment, poke around the brides family and friends, to find out if there's any possibly of her saying no.

Make reservations at the restaurant where you had your first dinner together.
Fortune cookies!
Skywriting can be cool.
Use the media!
Sports event - have a banner unfold across from your seats, or have it come up across the scoreboard.
Scrapbook memories from your relationship (ticket stubs, pictures, cards etc etc.)

If you want to keep it simple and private, go on a quiet getaway. There's nothing more romantic then snuggling in front of a warm fire, or watching a movie under the blankets in the dark to pop the big question.

Proposing doesn't need to lavish and elaborate. All you need to do is make a memory that you and fiance can treasure together. And that can be as large and public, or as small and intimate as you want it to be. Happy proposing this Valentine's Day!

Decorations 101: Going Green.....

When an average wedding cost's anywhere from $10,000 - $15,000, it's no wonder couple's are choosing to go green. Not only will they save money, but they will be saving the planet too! However, with green weddings, still fairly new in the bridal market, it's isn't always that easy to know where to start. You can go completely green, or you can add just a touch of green here and there. Here are some great idea's for your green wedding...

Paper Invitations
When designing your invitations, many companies now offer them to be printed on re-cycled paper! You can have everything done from save-the-dates, invites, thank-yous, programs and more, all on re-cycled paper. To further save paper, have your invitations designed postcard style so you won't even need an envelope.

Food/Dishes
Instead of purchasing flatware and stemware, be sure to rent. It's budget friendly, and you won't be wasting numerous plates/plastic cutlery. Another great option for your wedding is an organic meal. Having organic food will probably be more expensive, however if you are set on having a fully green wedding, then this is the way to go!

Wedding Favors
Instead of giving favours you could make a donation to a needy cause. Depending on you and your fiance's preference, you could make donations to the Caner Society, or if your pet lovers, the local humane society. If you still want to give out favors, why not handout packets of seeds for garden variety flowers or plants. And if you have a little bit of extra room in your budget, you could give each of your guests a small tree to play after the wedding. This is great for spring or summer themed weddings.

Rent Your Attire
Renting your wedding dress and suit will cut down the expenses a lot, and you will be "re-cycling" someone elses dress. If you don't like the idea of wearing something that's already been worn, look online for people selling wedding dresses and other attire. Unfortunately when some brides purchase dresses, they never make it to the alter. Then they have a perfectly new dress that's never been worn.

Decorations 101: Lighting Your Venue

There are tons of options when it comes to lighting your wedding reception! To turn your wedding site from ho-hum to stunningly beautiful, you'll need to do a little research on what types of lights you’ll need to create the effect your looking for. Here a few tips to really find what your looking for.

Hire A Professional
If you have hired a professional wedding/event planner like Imagine Wedding and Event Planning, they should be able to find the types of light your looking for. If not, they will have a lighting guru that they regularly with, or can point you in the right direction of who will have what your looking for. Sometimes the venue reception might have pictures of what other couples have done before. So be sure to always ask.

Think about your Venue
To get the dramatic look of lighting you want, make sure you visit your venue when it’s dark outside. You’ll want to make sure that people focus there attention on the tables, and each other. If the venue has lot’s of light focused on the walls and entrance, it will steal everyone’s focus. Ask the venue if there is anyone to dim those lights if possible, and try to avoid venues with lot’s of florescent lighting. Florescent lighting can and will ruin the look of most weddings. Make sure you also take note of lighted exit signs, or other doors, that could let in any unwanted lighting.

Types of Light
Gobos – This is a stencil that usually put over a light and shone on a wall or the floor of the reception hall. Most couple’s use a stencil with their names on it, or perhaps a design that revolves around the theme of their wedding. The more complicated of design, the more it will cost you to have the gobo lighting.

Wash- There are different types of lights that you can use to create a "wash." A wash tends to look like a sheet of the same color flooding over everything. LEDs are a popular choice because they use very little electricity. Some of the LEDs are also wireless, making them easier to place around your reception venue. These types of lights are optimal for color wash’s.

Spots - A focused light that shines on an object, for a dramatic effect. Usually this light would be used to illuminate certain aspects of the wedding, like a guestbook table, or perhaps the wedding cake. Spot lights can also be a certain color.

Decoration 101: The Swag!

What is Swag?

When you hear someone talk about Swag, you might be curious as to what that is. Swag is draping of material. Usually when it is used in a wedding, a accent color of material is draped across the front of your head table, as well as maybe your cake take or perhaps a backdrop. Lighted fabric swags are often used as wedding decorations or during the holidays. Not only used in weddings, this decoration can be placed anywhere to add some accent, such as on your curtains or mantle.
This décor is very easy to learn on your own, and if you’re a DIY bride then you must keep reading to learn how to perfect the swag effect for your special day!

First measure your head table to get the length of swag you will need, then add an extra 8 – 10 feet, depending on how deep you want the swag to be. Cut the fabric to the required length including fabric to hang along each edge.

Next if you would like lights with your fabric, you can either swag the lights first on the table, then swag your fabric over top. Or you can wrap your lights around the fabric, and swag them as a bundle.
Then insert hooks, clips or swag holders along the front of table. Make you start in the middle, and add them along the table wherever you want the loops to be. Be sure to put a clip in each corner, and make sure you measure to make them even. After that you can drape the lighted fabric through the hooks to create the swag. To really personalize the swag you can add other elements such as ivy or ribbons and bows.

Are you looking for a few great idea's to help decorate, and complete your wedding theme? Here are a few of my favorites to really spice things up for you.

Table names
A lot of people like to create a seating arrangement for their wedding. Seating those at tables with individuals that they will know, or they think these people have in common. Most banquet centres will provide you with numbers on each table. I personally think it's much more classy to name your tables instead. For example if you are having a spring wedding, that's full of flowers, your table names could each be a favorite flower. Or if you were having a football themed wedding, you could use the names of your favorite football players from the Saskatchewan rough riders! Or perhaps if you and your fiance are avid travellers, the table names could be cities or places that you have been together.

Tableware
When it comes to choosing your tableware most reception and banquet halls offer a basic white china plate. However if you really want to personalize, see if you can get your tableware such as plates and cups to have a splash of color. Any type of color on the plates will really bring your theme out. Or if you are really daring, choose a plate that has a fun pattern or floral design on it to really make an impact.

The Class Act
Many guests have to to wait through that long and boring cocktail hour, waiting for the bridal party to get back for when the reception and dinner starts. To keep your guests entertained while they wait, why not hire a "side" show for them to enjoy. Depending on your theme, there are many options to choose from. For a more formal affair, a harpist, or string quartet would be lovely. If your wedding is a little more casual and you want to really wow your guests, consider hiring a comedian, magician, balloon twister, or a cultural dance group!

Other great idea's...
Put together a picture board of you and your fiance growing up and meeting.

Put a display table together of all the wedding photo's of family members who were married before you.
If your family pet's are a big part of your lives, see if there is a way you can incorporate them into your wedding.
Dove and butterfly releases!
If you have a wedding theme, have your guests come dresses accordingly. Such as a country wedding, 50's theme, or black tie.

Decorations 101: The Woes of Tablecloth Sizes

What is the Right Size of Table Cloth
How do you choose the right size of tablecloths/ runners for your wedding? Chances are if you are not in the banqueting industry, you will not now the proper sizes of tablecloths to order. Many brides get irritated trying to figure out what sizes they will need, So hopefully the following can clear everything up for you!

Floor Length Table Cloths
Traditionally, banqueting table cloths were three quarter length and there was only white! Now you can rent or purchase tablecloths in a variety of color and lengths. Floor length table cloths can really add to the overall style of your wedding. It creates a extra touch of class, when you are not able to see the legs of the table.

Table Cloth Sizes
For a 6 foot round table (Seats 8 – 10 guests) you will need a 132” round table cloth if you want it to drop to the floor.Be sure you know the height and width (diameter) of the table. The standard height in the banqueting industry is 30”.
A 5’ round table (Seats 6-8) you would need a 120” table cloth.
A 4’ round table (Seats 4-5) you’d need 108” to have it reach floor length.

Table Runners
A table runner is a rectangular piece of fabric that runs down a rectangular table, usually 8 ft tables or 6 ft tables.It’s a way to accessorise your table and add colour to your wedding. They can also be used on round tables and circular shaped tables.It’s always nice to use the table runner as your accent color. For example, if your colors were chocolate brown and teal. And you decided to have chocolate brown tablecloths, your runners should not be brown, but rather in teal.

Rectangular tablecloths
88” x 144” Rectangular Table Cloth will fit a 6ft x 2.5 ft standard table. This tablecloth should be floor length all the way around.

Table Overlays – Like the table runners, an alternative to having a runner on a round table is to put on a square overlay. These overlays also come in many colors and sizes depending on whether you have a 5ft round table or 6 ft round table.

Decorating 101: The Chair Cover

Tieing a chair cover sash:
Most sashes are between 6" and 8" wide and at least 9 feet long.Take the sash and fold it in half. Place the middle of the sash around the inside of the chair, and bring each half around to the back on each side. You are "wrapping" the chair with the sash.
Tie a knot in the back to secure the sash. Then you need to decide what type of bow you are going to tie. The easiest bow to tie is a basic bow.
Basic Bow: Make 2 loops and tie those together-- the same knot you use to tie your shoe. Afterwards pull the "loop" ends and blouse the material.
Square Bow: (right over left and left over right) tied loosely or tightly, which can be simple and elegant.
Flip Bow: Take both ends of the sash and bring them around the back to drape over your your simple knot.

Recently the Posh and Pink Fashion Forum was brought to my attention, and I want to get as many people involved as possible, because it is a fabulous idea. I have not been able to find a web page about this event. However there is some information on facebook. Here is some information copied and pasted from facebook. Posh and Pink Fashion Forum (Eye Inspire Events)
Graduation ceremonies have become quite a big event and the stress for the dress has become even bigger. There are many girls who are embarrassed because they can not afford "the dress" and have considered not attending their ceremonies. I am working with a local group to eliminate that feeling, and we need your help.
Posh & Pink is an event to provide grad dresses and other accessories to young girls who maybe can otherwise not afford "the dress" and all that goes with it.
I am asking your help in donating items such as previously loved grad dresses, bridesmaid or other formal dresses, shawls, shrugs, bags, accessories; or please forward this list to others; I would appreciate it.

You can drop off your dresses to Karey at Stella & Sway or call Christina St. Onge at 545-1515 ext 244. We would like to collect all items by March 1, 2011.

Christmas Wedding - Dec 27,2010

Welcome to Imagine Wedding and Event Plannings first post of 2011! To start of the year in a great way, we are going to showcase a fabulous Christmas wedding that Imagine was involved in.

As a second marriage this couple opted for a small evening ceremony at the Regina Floral Conservatory. The Regina Floral Conservatory rents out their space for small weddings, and group gatherings. You can also rent it out during the year for photo opportunities as well. At Christmas it is a beautiful setting filled with poinsettia's and sparking lights.

After the couple's family ceremony they headed for a great party in the lobby of the CBC building. Being CBC's first wedding reception at their location, they did a fabulous job of the food and atmosphere.

This couple Christmas theme was done up in colors of red and white, and included white linens and chair covers, and red runners, complete with red sashes, pine cones and Christmas balls. This couple was also brave enough to bear the cold weather for a few snapshots outside. All in all, it was a beautiful day. Congratulations to the both of you!

Groom Toss
Ready... Set... Go!!
Gentlemen this is your chance to prove to your brides just how much you care, without looking bad in front of the guys. So it’s off to the races we go.The Groom Toss is a challenge for three couples, you will start on one end of the fashion show runway, and race your way to the other end and through the door to a fabulous prize. The only catch is… you will be racing with the bride-to-be on your back. It may not exactly be “crossing the threshold”, but then again there was never a sponsor's prize on the other side of the threshold either. So lace up your shoes.. grab your girl...and get ready to run!

Cake Expectations
Every engagement for a girl usually starts with the ring, so ladies have we got a deal for you.
In the Cake Expectations challenge three very lucky ladies will get the chance to dig their way through a wedding cake in search of a fake ring. Now… we wouldn’t let you dig through all that messy cake for just any ol’ fake diamond ring, the bride-to-be successful at finding the ring first can start counting her lucky stars or karats perhaps instead.
So ladies… roll up your sleeves, tie your hair back, and get ready to dig in!

There is over $20,000 in prizes this year, and you won't want to miss out! Imagine gave out emergency bridal kits in the fall at The Most Incredible Bridal Show, and it was such a hit, that they've decided to do it again! Winter Wonderland Weddings

Everyone dreams or having that wonderful wedding in the summer, but what about a fabulous winter or Christmas themed wedding. For those of use who love the holidays, the Christmas season is a fabulous time to have your wedding!

When it comes to attire, winter is cold. Most dresses are strapless or have very little in the way of sleeves, and they can look old-fashioned. Opt for a dress that comes with a shrug, or buy a dramatic coat! White fur is always a nice choice for a winter wedding, especially if you plan on taking photo's outside.What about your bridesmaids? Make sure to outfit them in an attractive wrap too!

As far as your venue is concerned I would suggest something warm and romantic! Consider a fireplace, or large picture windows that look out onto a snowy picturesque landscape. When it comes to decor there are many options. The two most popular are the Christmas theme, where you may have poinsettia centerpieces, with green and red as your main colors. And the other is the silver and blue theme, leaning more towards the winter than Christmas theme. Both can have pizazz and sparkle! Stock up on Christmas lights the year before, as you can use lights in either theme to really wrap up the feeling your trying to convey.

To add in special touches that really bring your theme across choose favors that reflect the season such as, hot chocolate, Christmas cookie cutters, or perhaps even mini-snow globes for each guest. Guests will also love a themed edible treats such as eggnog, hot cocoa, and sugar cookies!

Marriage Licenses and More.....

Do you have questions about the legal stuff one needs to know about getting married? Here is a little information to get your started and hopefully answer some of your questions. To get full details please visit www.justive.gov.sk.ca. In Saskatchewan, marriage can be done through a religious or civil ceremony. Only clergy can perform religious ceremonies, however, a marriage commissioner will perform your civil ceremony. To legally get married in Saskatchewan, you need to be 18 years of age or older. If you are under the age of 18 and wish to get married a “Consent to Marriage of a Minor" form much be signed and completed by your parents If you are under the age of 15, no license can be issued. The cost of the license is $50.00, and there is no tax.

Anyone who wants to get married in Saskatchewan must purchase a Saskatchewan Marriage License. To purchase a license you must go to a license issuer. The marriage license needs to be purchased no later than one day before the wedding, and no earlier than three months before the wedding day. When you go to get your license you will need to bring along some identification. If you are a Canadian citizen, you need to bring your birth certificate and a valid driver's license with photo identification. If you live outside of Canada you need to bring your birth certificate and photo ID. Anyone who is a landed immigrant also must bring a birth certificate, photo ID, as well as their landed immigrant papers.

If either you or your partner has had a previous marriage, you will also need to bring your original or a court certified copy of your “Certificate of Divorce”. You can obtain the divorce documents from the court in the province where the divorce was finalized. Preliminary documents and church annulment papers won’t be accepted. If either you or your partner was previously married you were widowed, no proof of death is needed. But you will need to know the exact date and place of death of your former spouse. The only other thing you will need to legally get married is two witnesses. They can be anyone, as long as they are over the age of 18. Dawn and Nathon are planning to have a beautiful spring wedding in May, and have chosen Hunter Green and White for their colors/theme. Each of them are having two attendants as well as they are honoring their parents with corsages and boutonniere's as well.

For their floral arrangements Dawn and Nathon have chosen lovely white carnations, and a hunter green accent flower, as well as hunter green ribbon to top it all off. Dawn is a creative gal, and wanted to add a little sparkle to the bouquets, so she also added sparkly green bee-hive's to really make her bouquets pop. Destination Weddings - Planning ahead.

Everyone has always loved the destination weddings. After all they are beautiful, quaint, your already on your honeymoon, and you saved tons of money by combining the two. However when planning these types of weddings, there are a few common pitfalls that you might want to be ready for.
The first thing to consider is your dress. If you scrunch it up in your suitcase, it will be wrinkled. And it's not always practical to be taking a steam machine with you. Check with the hotel and see if you can send your dress a week before the wedding. They could take it out for you, and have it steamed and looking great in plenty of time for your wedding. It's another thing that you won't be having to stress about.
When you book your wedding, you will want to make sure there is no large conferences of any kind taking place the week of. For example you wouldn't want to have your wedding at a resort the same week that a 1000 kids from a high school are booked in for their music trip.
Just as important as your dress, what about your flowers? Make sure you are working with a seasoned wedding planner. She will know where to get the best fresh flowers in the area, and make sure you have them on time. Or you could opt for silk flowers. You could have a professional make them at home for you, and then take them along with you in your suitcase. This way you'll be sure to have them, and get EXACTLY what you want!
What if it rains? Yes it is a tropical location, and yes it may rain. Of course the wedding on the beach will be the nicest location, but mother nature doesn't always co-operate. Have a back-up plan, and make sure you wedding planner is able to get you a venue, or space inside the resort, just in case.
The last thing you need to consider is your family. Mom and Dad might have wanted to invite their friends to your wedding, or helped in the planning process. With a destination wedding, the wedding planner takes care of it all. Be sensitive to their needs, and involve them in any way you can. After all, it's their baby whose getting married.

The Most INCREDIBLE Bridal Show

Imagine Wedding and Event Planning had the privilege at showing at The Most Incredible Bridal Show with many other great wedding vendors. The day started with an early morning for by myself and my assistant Rhondda. But after setting up and having an early lunch provided by the great staff at the Conexus Arts Centre we were ready to meet hundreds (literally) of brides!

From Noon until four o'clock we met with brides who were coming in as far as Saskatoon to take part in the special day's events. We handed out numerous Mini-Emergency Bridal Kits to all the brides who visited our booth, and they were a great hit. The brides really appreciated having this package to take along with them on there wedding day. This great wedding package contained many things including floss, band-aids, tissue, bobby pins, corsage pins, earring backings, sewing kit, safety pins, breath mints, body tape, mole skin, and chalk! Chalk can be great when you need to quickly cover up a scuff mark on your shoe, or a stain on your dress when taking a fast photo.

Rhondda and myself dressed the booth in some great floral displays made by Imagine as well as we had some stylish chair covers with matching table coverings provided by A Touch of Elegance. Imagine wants to give out a great big thanks to all the lovely brides who stopped by the booth, and we look forward to hearing and working with you in the near future!

Erin and Thuan Oct 9 2010

On the Thanksgiving weekend at the beginning of October, Imagine was booked for a beautiful wedding at the RCMP Heritage building. Erin and Thuan had an early evening wedding at 5pm followed by a lovely reception enjoyed by all.

Erin and Thuan chose chocolate brown and a vibrant blue for their wedding colors. The centerpieces consisted of blue floral bouquets, and lovely photo frames containing pictures of the happy couple. Erin and Thuan also had unique wedding favors for all their guests of creamy cocoa mix to enjoy at a later date.

Instead of having the traditional wedding cake, Erin and Thuan's guests enjoyed delicious blue and chocolate cupcakes. Also set up for the guests were a chocolate candy buffet, of many favorites including chocolate chip cookies, chocolate lollipops, and fortune cookies drizzled in chocolate as well.

Congratulations Daryl and Margaret on a beautiful fall wedding! They had a wonderful late afternoon wedding at the Callie Curling Club, followed by a great reception and dance.

Margaret and Daryl had some really great and unique surprises at their wedding. They chose a lovely black and purple color palette, and their centerpieces featured great floral designs as well as Mr and Mrs. Bears illuminated with tea light candles! Margaret and Daryl guests enjoyed a lovely buffet, and a beautiful three tiered white wedding cake, intricately decorated, that featured a cake topper of a couple circled by a heart, and engraved with their last name.

Some of the more unique features of there wedding, included and an Elvis, a Marilyn Monroe, as well as a life size entertaining panda bear! The guestbook table also featured a life size bride and groom made completely of white and black balloons, a conversation piece for all ages.
I hope you had a wonderful wedding Margaret and Daryl, it was a pleasure being able to work with you!

Wedding Trends 2010 - Big Glamour and Retro

Every year brings wedding trends that the newly engaged can't seem to get enough of! This year it was big glamour and a touch of retro that most brides opted for. The biggest color hits this year were a fashionable and timeless black and white palette. For extra big glamour brides were also choosing black as there main color with an accent of emerald green or a ruby red.

Brides also were choosing to make big beauty statements with there attire, makeup, and hairstyles. Big choices for 2010 were the famous french twist and bouffants, accompanied by matte base face, with a bold black eyeliner and Marilyn Monroe British red lipstick.

Pre-party trends seem to focus around the 80's! With great bridal parties and stagette's done up in neon colors, fluffy hair and 80's prom music, it's no wonder these bride-to-be's are having such a great time.

Every one can recall the you tube thriller video that is now a sensation at weddings. The first dance is now being opted out for a choreographed bridal party mash-up. Something that all guests will find entertaining and will be sure to enjoy!

Congratulations to Brodie and Morgan who got married this weekend at the beautiful Kiwanis Waterfall Park! The weather was absolutely perfect! And we were so glad to see some sunshine after weeks of cloudy skies and wet streets.

Imagine was very excited to be able to help out this great couple with day-of wedding coordination. After having a great outdoor afternoon wedding, this couple retreated to the Regina Inn for a wonderful buffet reception.

Brodie and Morgan chose to have turquoise, brown and baby pink as their wedding colors and they did a great job implementing those colors into there wedding day with unique wedding favor boxes, and colored floral petals sprinkled along their reception tables. The Wedding Gallery also assisted them with their lovely decor with beautiful head table design, full of twinkling lights!

Do you have the wedding jitters?

Here you are only a short while to your wedding, and you start to get the wedding jitters. Many people start to feel this way when it finally sinks in and they realize that the special day has arrived. Most people will feel nervous, and they start to doubt if they want to go through with it etc. Before you go and do something drastic, carefully consider if you really are doubting the relationship, or your just nervous about marriage itself.
A few helpful hints to clear your wedding fears......
Talk to your husband/wife about your fears and feelings. Your partner may actually have the same feelings as you do, and if they don't they are best one who could reassure you and calm your fears.
Take time away from all the wedding plans, such as a weekend away with your girlfriends, or a romantic getaway with your partner. And make sure you leave the wedding talk at home! That should get your mind away from things.
And last but not least, if you can't get over the jitters on your own, perhaps visit a counsellor. They might have a better time sorting out your real feelings for you.

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue……
Many believe that the tradition started in the Victorian era, and that the original saying ended with …. “ and a sixpence in my shoe.”
The reason for having all these items on your person the day of the wedding, is suppose to bring good luck to the bride and her marriage.
When the bride looks for something old, its supposed to be something that connects her with her past, such as an old piece of jewelery, a swatch sewn in from her grandmother’s wedding dress etc. The something new should represent the bride’s future, for her life ahead. Something borrowed usually comes from a friend or family member, to represent the love of those around her, and something blue is supposed to represent a bride’s purity.
In early years, brides would always wear a blue dress, to represent their purity, as in the Christian faith where the Virgin Mary is always cloaked in blue. Before the late 19th century, nearly all brides wore blue as the color of choice for their wedding dress.
The sixpence is suppose to bring wealth and financial stability for the bride and her newlywed husband, usually worn in the left shoe.

Well now as we get into fall, the busy summer is over, and we start to wind down a little bit. However Imagine Wedding and Event Planning is still kept busy with other events, and the other multiple wedding services they offer.
One of those great services is Custom Silk Floral Design! And Imagine always likes to share what other brides are doing for their flowers, so you can get more idea's for your special day! Today we look at Ryan and Daniella's flowers!
For there wedding they chose carnations in white and royal blue, and they have chosen a small yellow accent flower as well. These carnations look great, and they chose a great color combination as well. Imagine created numerous hand corsages, boutonnieres and bouquets, for this happy couple. This previous weekend I was able to be a special part of Chantal and Chris's day. They had a beautiful and qaint wedding service at Christ Lutheran Church, followed by dinner and reception at the Best Western Seven Oaks.

There were seventy five guests in attendance who all got to enjoy a fabulous buffet dinner, followed by some great music by Garry Robertson DJ's. Chantal and Chris chose burgandy and cramy white as there color palette, and it looked fabulous with the great decor they chose. Some of thier decor featured mirror and votive centerpeices, twinkly lights swagged with vines, and floral trees across the head table.

Be kind to your feet....Wedding Shoes!

Now that you have your dress all picked out, it's time to get the right shoes for your wedding. Like photography, this is one place you don't want to skimp and save the money on. Be kind to your feet, otherwise you'll be uncomfortable or barefoot all day.

Strappy sandals, beaded wedges, a decorative flip flop, or even a cowboy boot. Whatever you choose make sure it fits the theme or your wedding and looks great with your dress.
Another popular choice for wedding shoes ids to buy white satin shoes, and dye them to match a specific color. Be sure to take a swatch of fabric from your wedding dress or bridesmaid dresses of the color you are trying to co-ordinate with. Keep in mind that not all shoes have the same tone of white. So if you are trying to match the exact white of your dress, that swatch may come in handy.

Your wedding shoes are a must have when it comes to altering your wedding dress. If you don't have the right shoes when your dress is altered, the hem may be too long or too short the day of the wedding. So always take the shoes you plan to wear, to avoid costly mistakes!

If you have details on your dress make sure the details coordinate with your shoes. If you have rhinestone or crystals on your dress, I would choose shoes that are jeweled and/or shiny, If you have pearl details on your dress, buy a pearl detailed shoe.

The hidden extras.......
Need that comfortable shoe that isn't a heel for the reception? Go with bright white runners that can be hidden under your dress, or a pretty jeweled flip flop. Easy to dance in, and still looks nice. Another helpful hint for shoe's that begin to rub you the wrong way, is moleskin. You can buy it in packs at your local drugstore, and cut it down to fit the area on your shoe that is rubbing your skin (such as the heel etc.)

This weekend Imagine Wedding and Event Planning spent some time with Lauren and Daniel, decorating for their wedding.

Daniel and Lauren chose to have a beautiful outdoor wedding, and have their reception at the Conexus Arts Centre, in the theatre lobby. This room has grand picture windows that overlook Wascana Park, and the beautiful array of flowers that Conexus has right outside the front doors.

With a nice size wedding of two-hundred people, we set up ivory chair covers and tablecloths, with gold organza table overlays, and sashes. The lovely couple had beautiful centerpieces of dried flowers, on a circular mirror with candles, as well as a lovely cake.
Not only did they choose fabulous décor from Regina’s A Touch of Elegance wedding rentals, but they also decided to have a great candy buffet! Some of that buffet featured Twizzlers, Mint Chocolates, and the famous Jelly Belly jelly beans.

Thanks to my décor assistants Rhondda and Brittany, we had a great day being able to help Daniel and Lauren fulfill their wedding décor needs.

The Bridal Gown! After the Wedding - What now?

You've just had a beautiful wedding! And now you must be thinking, what do I do with my wedding dress? There are many different things that you can do with your wedding dress, from keeping it and preserving it correctly, or there are other options if you don't want to hang onto it. Imagine Wedding and Event Planning has created this blog post for you, to help to decide on what to do with your lovely gown.

One of the most popular choices is to have your wedding dress preserved. Wedding dresses are preserved a little differently depending on where you go to have it done. Usually your dress will be encased in a presentation box, that has low acid in it. It will be dust-proof, and lined with unbleached cotton. Some people alternatively will take the dress after it has been cleaned, and stuff the bodice and sleeves with acid-free paper. They then wrap the dress in a white sheet and hang it in a dry, cool place. Always store your gown away from sunlight ideally 57F (14C), and a humidity of 50-60%.

A very new and popular thing that people do with their wedding dress, is “trash” it. Photographers can be hired to take photos of you trashing your dress. The choices of how to trash your dress are limitless.
Some ideas:
Paintball
Local Swimming pool, or at the Lake
Save it for a rainy day
Working in the Garden
Many photographers offer trashing your dress photography with their wedding packages. Ask your wedding photographer if he offers this feature.

Some brides also choose to sell the wedding gown. There are many different ways to go about selling your wedding gown. The most popular ways of course are either in your local newspaper, or on the Internet. When you sell your dress, be straightforward. Give the size, style, color, and condition.
If you are not interested in selling the dress, you could always donate it. Not everyone can afford a beautiful wedding dress on their special day. Why not donate your dress so that someone else can enjoy it as much as you did?

If none of these options appeal to you, here are a few more ways to use your wedding dress in a way that it won't be taking up closet space.
-Cut it down and make it into a cocktail dress.
-Use the material to make a christening gown for your first child.
- Use it to cover your wedding albums, picture frames, or have it line the inside of your baby’s bassinet.

FYI: How to choose the right attendents!

Before you go crazy and start asking all your friends to be your attendants, its best to seriously consider it. You will need an attendant to be reliable, someone whom you can easily get a hold of, and someone who you can keep in touch with. They should reliable and punctual. You should ask someone who doesn’t think that they are going to be in charge, but rather be their to be supportive and helpful. You don’t need anyone who will be an extra added stress. Also your attendants should be presentable and on their best behaviour, after all, they are going to be interacting with your family and friends. They should be able to be responsible people, and keep your best interests in mind.
There is no golden rule to how many attendants you should have at your wedding. Most weddings have anywhere from 3 to 6, but your bridal party can be smaller or larger depending on the style and how formal your wedding is. The general idea is that you have one attendant per 50 guests. So if you’re having 150 guests at your wedding, you should have a maid of honour, and two other attendants. This is just a guideline though, you can have as large or small as you would like.
There is nothing wrong with having an attendant who is expecting. As long as she is comfortable with it, then you should definitely ask her. The only thing to keep in consideration is the attire of all of your attendants. Because she is expecting she may need a different dress, due to her ever growing belly.
There is no rule to say you have to have an equal number of attendants on either side. If you are worried about things looking uneven, you could have a groomsmen walk two bridesmaids down the isle together etc. Men or bridesmaids can walk in or out, in pairs.
Multiple Best Men, and Maid’s of Honour:
If you are unable to choose between two best friends, why not have them both as your best men, or maids of honours? The attendants can share duties and make you feel extra wonderful on your special day.

If the bride has no close girlfriends, but a really close male friend, she could ask him to be her honour attendant, instead of the traditional maid of honour. The responsibilities of the attendants will stay the same, and you will feel just as special.
Feel free to have younger attendants as part of your bridal party. The only thing to keep in mind, is that your witnesses must be of legal age where you live. In most places the age is restricted to 18 years of age or older. Your younger 16 year old sister will be unable to sign as a witness at your wedding.
Before you ask people to be your attendents make sure you have a few of details finalized, such as when and where. A destination wedding is a bigger commitment then a Saturday afternoon at the local town hall. Once you have a date selected, you should also discuss what their financial responsibilities will be, such as the dress, the tux, what all they will have to pay for. This way you can be up front, and not have any hurt feelings or surprises.
You have to understand that being an attendant is a large time and financial commitment. Some people may have to decline because of their financial situation or if they feel they will be unable to make the time commitment. This does not mean that they don’t support you in any way. Really you should be thanking them for turning the offer down, if for any reason they felt uneasy. Nothing would be worse to have an attendant say they were committed and then have them not be around when you need them, or back out at the last minute.

Applause Singing Challenge

Imagine Wedding and Event Planning is proud to be helping Applause Dinner Theatre organize the "Applause Singing Challenge!" Are you a great singer? Think you have what it takes to win? Enter the Applause Singing Challenge! Open to Saskatchewan residents ages 13+. Entry forms must be in by Sept 17th 2010. Accepting only the first 100 entries! Win $500 cash and studio time to record your song!

Competition is open to individuals aged 13 years and older that live and reside in Saskatchewan, Canada. There are two age categories from 13 – 19, and 20 years of age and older. When auditioning, competitors must bring valid photo id, to prove age. At the time of the contest, competitors must have turned 13 by scheduled auditions.
Competition is open to amateurs only. Anyone who makes there living from singing, is classified as a professional and is not eligible to participate in the competition.
Any past or present employee’s, or immediate family members (i.e.: mother, father, sister, brother, son, daughter, etc.) of the following are not eligible to participate in the Competition: Applause Dinner Theatre, Imagine Wedding and Event Planning, the Judges, any person or company working with, or advertising the production/ event, sponsors, and any companies donating prizes.
No competitor will be allowed to audition without signing this release form and showing proof of age to judges and/or producer’s before auditions. All competitors under the age of 18 must have their parent or legal guardian approve and sign the release form. If you are under the age of 18 and do not have a valid parent/legal guardian signature on the release form you will not be allowed to audition.
The cost of entering the singing competition is $25.00. This fee is non-refundable. Only the first 100 applications received will be accepted to audition. This is on a first come, first serve basis. All applications must be in the hands of the registrar by Fri Sept 17, 2010. Applications that arrive after this date may not be accepted. Any applications we receive after the first accepted 100 will be returned with the competition fee. If competitor does not show up to audition, or is unable to make it for whatever reason, the fee will not be returned.
Judges will be looking for not only great talent, but professionalism, as well as stage presence. Please be advised competitors need to choose appropriate attire and musical selection. Judges advise competitors to choose a musical selection that is not of heavy metal, rap, punk rock, or of an operatic nature. Musical selections that contain profanity, or that are obscene in nature will not be tolerated, and this will result in immediate disqualification.

Etiquette - Who Covers the Expenses?

Who pays for what?
Traditionally the bride’s family pays for most of the expenses that the couple incurs, now-a-days it more common for the couple to contribute or even pay for the whole wedding. It’s also common for both families to share the costs. If the couple is asking for financial support, they should be willing to compromise on some of their decisions.
Some of the traditional expenses break down as follows:
The brides family pays for; bridal consultant, all decorations, floral arrangements and bouquets, invitations and other stationary, photographer, videographer, ceremony services, transportation, accommodations for bridal party if necessary, bride’s attire, and all reception expenses.
The groom’s family pays for; rehearsal costs and rehearsal dinner, wedding bands, groom’s attire, marriage licence, officiant fee, and all honeymoon expenses.
The bridesmaids/ maid of honour pay for; accessories and attire, transportation to the city of wedding, a gift from the bridesmaids, bridal shower and bachelorette party.
The groomsmen/ ushers pay for; accessories and attire rental, transportation to the city of wedding, a gift from the groomsmen, and bachelor party.
All guests that are coming in from out of town should cover their own transportation and accommodation costs.

Etiquette - Guests/Invitations

Traditionally those invited to the wedding should be 50% from the bride’s side, and 50% from the groom’s side. Of course some families are much larger than others, and it doesn't usually work out this way. When inviting guests consider your budget, and the size of your reception facility.
The people who should always be invited are; parents of any children in the wedding party, the officiant and his spouse, and the spouse or common-law partner of any guest invited. It’s also nice to include the parents of your honour attendants, if you know them well.
Do I have to include children and allow all my single guests to bring a date?
It’s completely your decision. It largely depends on your budget and reception facility. It’s always nice to include them if you have room both in facility and in budget.

Can I have a “B” list?
Having an “A” list and a “B” list is not a good idea. Many feelings can be hurt if someone were to find out that they were a second choice to be invited to your wedding. If you decide to have a “B” list, it should be very secretive, and allow yourself plenty of time for the first set of RSVP’s to come in.

What do I need to know about invitations?
When addressing invitations, both names of a married couple should be on the envelope. Both names should also be included if a couple is living together or for same-sex couples.
If you have the time it’s really nice and much appreciated by your guests if you include directions, maps, and lodging information, especially for those coming in from out of town.
Some helpful suggestions:
- Always be sure to order extra invitations, you may want a copy for yourself, or a family member may want one for a keepsake.
- Allow yourself lots of time and keep track of all responses. Caterer’s will want a final headcount a week or two in advance.
- Check the weight of your invitations before you mail them. Otherwise they may be returned for insufficient postage.
- Be sure to use the correct spelling of guests names and their titles, and if at all possible always include the names of your guests dates.
- Never include registry or gift information, it is tacky and considered poor taste. Instead have your family and close friends spread the word.
- Do not include the words “No Gifts.” Family members should share the news with your guests.
- It is impolite to say “Adults Only” or “No Children.” Your guests will know who has been invited by the names written on the envelope.
- Try not to use labels on envelopes. It is always much nicer to hand-address your envelopes, even if you are sending out several hundred invitations. If you want your invitations to look more formal, you can also hire a professional calligrapher to address them instead.

When should I send out my invitations?
You should always send out your invitations no later than eight weeks before your wedding. If you have them ready earlier, send them out. Out of town guests will appreciate the extra notice, so they can book time off work and make arrangements. Never send out invitations last minute, it will make them feel like they were an after thought. They will be offended, and probably wont come either way.

Can I email invitations?
It is never okay to send an invitation through email. Even if its to a close family friend or relative, it’s inappropriate. The only time its ever okay is if the wedding is last minute or rushed, (i.e.: due to grandma’s rapidly failing health, etc.) but a phone call is always better.

Etiquette - Your Engagement!

Who should I tell first that were engaged?
If either one of the couple has children from a previous relationship, the children should always be the first to know. Children are of the utmost importance, regardless of their age. An ex-spouse may also be considered, due to the children and thier reaction to the news.
After the children, parents are always next. If the parents haven’t met, you should make and arrange a meeting for them. Be aware that your parents may have concerns, and make sure you allow them to express that. This will prevent hurt and surprise in the future. After parents are told, then should come relatives and close friends, as well as colleagues and co-workers. How you want to spread the news is entirely up to you, however be sensitive and thoughtful to avoid hurt feelings.
What about an engagement party?
Traditionally, the bride-to-be’s parents hosted the party, but it can be anyone, even a close friend. If a friend wants to host a party, be sure that they check with both sets of parent’s first. Make sure either of them are not planning anything first, as you would not want any toes to be stepped on. It is completely okay and very popular for the couple themselves to host their own engagement party.
Engagement parties can be formal, or as informal as you would like. You can invite as many guests as you would like, but keep in mind, all those invited to the engagement party should also be invited to the wedding. Normally invitations should be sent a few weeks in advance of the party, however if the event is very soon, and informal, a personal phone call will do the trick.
What about gifts received at my engagement party and before the wedding?
Typically at an engagement party, you should not bring a gift. The party is not a gift-giving party, but just a celebration. If a gift is given, the couple should always express there thanks, and open it at a later date. Opening or displaying it at the party will make guests who didn’t bring a gift feel awkward.
If you receive gifts during your engagement period you should always send out a thank you card promptly to let them know that you have received the gift. It is rude to not acknowledge the gift right away.
What if we break-off the engagement or wedding?
Make sure to tell your family as soon as possible, and explain the situation as tactfully as you can. You should never expect your family to be on “your side”. After all, the break-up may be hard for them as well. You should tell all those involved in the wedding as soon as possible, including your bridal party, vendors and any other rentals for your wedding day.
Some brides may want to give the engagement ring back, especially if it was a family heirloom. The ring is a gift, and be law you are not required to give it back. It is completely up to the bride-to-be. In the event that the couple has already received wedding gifts, they should return them promptly with a note indicating why the gift is being returned. You should never keep a gift that was meant for you as a couple, if you’re not going through with the marriage.

Flowers for Ashleigh and Brendan

Recently I have had the pleasure of making floral arrangements for Ashleigh and Brendan. This fun couple will get getting married outside in small-town Saskatchewan at the beginning of August.
For their floral arrangements Ashleigh chose to have a cascading bridal bouquet for herself, and round matching bouquets for her 5 bridesmaids. Her floral choice was based on the colors for her wedding which happened to be a bright red, and a sunny yellow.
The flowers Ashleigh chose to go with were open and closed red and yellow roses, as well red Gerbera daises, and yellow Gerbera daises. The result of these floral choices combined made stunning floral arrangements for the entire bridal party! Wishing you a wonderful wedding in August!
